Free recycling event at Alhambra High School

Alhambra High School in Martinez is hosting a recycling event with the Martinez Rotary and Universal Waste Management.

The event is on March 6th and 7th from 9am-3am.

They will accept TV's Computers,. Monitors Electronics, Testile, Shoes and Clothing. They will also accept large appliances for a fee.

Where to recycle your paints, Oil, aerosol cans, and other hazardous waste

These are locations for Contra Costa Hazardous Waste. I've listed an West, central and East Conta Costa locations so hopefully it should be close to everyone in the county.

To use these facilities a consumer must be a resident or qualified small business in the specified portion of the county.

Out of The Closet will take many kinds of donations

An easy way to recyle a lot of things you no longer need and support a great cause is to donate them to Out of the Closet which is owned by the Aids Healthcare Foundation. They will accept your donations and sell them at their stores and the money goes towards helping people with HIV.

The will accept donations at any of their locations and will take the following items : Furniture, Kitchenware, electronis, tools, musical instruments, linen, clothing, books, shoes, cd records.

They have 2 east bay locations.

Berkeley - 1600 University Avenue, 94705 - 510-841-2088- hours m-sat 10 - 7 and sun 10-6.

This is an excellent way to recycle items you no longer want and the donations are tax deductible.

Great way to Recycle your furniture/appliances/electronics and E waste

Recycle for Breat Cancer in San Ramon is an excellent resource for recycling and the money they make from it goes to a great cause.

They will accept electronics and E waste drop offs. Their hours are 9:30 to 4:30 monday to Saturday.

For things like Appliance and Furniture they will come pick it up. For smaller things like digital cameras they will send pre-paid shipping labels.

Places to recycle your electronics/ E Waste

If you are looking to recycle your electronics and E Waste, Green mouse is a great way to go. They are located in San Jose but will pick up all over the bay area. They will accept almost any kinds of electronics and E waste. Their location is 442 Reynolds Circle, San Jose, Ca. 95112. Recycle your mercury containing CFL's at Home Depot.

If you are looking for an easy location to recycle your CFL light bulbs you can take them to Home Depot. Home Depot has a recycling bin for CFL's and for Rechargable Batteries (the ones for power tools, etc). CFL's contain Mercury and are illegal to put in the regular trash, so Home Depot has made recycling them easy.

Recycle your used clothing by donating it to the united Cancer research society

This is a great way to recycle your used items, not let them end up in landfills and provide help all in one shot. The United Cancer Research Society needs donations and will pick up.

They need clothing, shoes, accessories, bedding, toys, houseware, furniture, tv's(working or not) and other electronics. The items provide valuable funds that are utilized in Cancer research.
